In Jammu and Kashmir, polling for fifth phase of District Development Council (DDC) elections concluded smoothly at 2 PM. Over 43 percent polling was recorded across Jammu and Kashmir divisions till 1.00 PM. The poll percentage in twenty Jammu constituencies was 57.25 and in seventeen Kashmir valley constituencies it was 27.33.
 
Voting took place for 37 seats in this phase. Out of 37 constituencies, 17 are in Kashmir division and 20 in Jammu division. 155 candidates including 30 women are in the fray for 17 seats in Kashmir division. In Jammu division, 144 candidates including 40 women are in the fray for 20 seats. So far polling has been held in 190 DDC constituencies. Polling will be held in three phases in the remaining 90 constituencies. The counting will take place on December 22.
 

Bypolls for 58 vacant seats of Sarpanch and 218 Panchs also took place today. In view of the Corona pandemic, adequate arrangements were made to ensure safety of all stakeholders including voters.
