Policeman among 2 arrested with contraband substance, cash in Budgam

Drug trafficking: Authorities issue notice issued to 5 persons under NDPS Act

BUDGAM: The Jammu and Kashmir Police Tuesday said that it has arrested two persons, including a cop, and recovered contraband substances from their possession in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

An official source told that patrolling party of police station Chadoora stopped an Alto Vehicle bearing Registration Number JK04E 9628 for checking on Nagam-Hayatpora road near Tangnar crossing and during the search of the vehicle, 69 kgs of Poppy straw and cash of 55000 was recovered from their possession.

He identified the duo as Mohd Ayoub Beigh Son of Mohd Jamaal Beigh a resident of Nowhar Chadura who is working in the Police department and is currently posted at the district police Line (DPL) Budgam and Nazir Ahmad Shaikh son of Mohd Shafi Sheikh a resident of Tangnar Chadura.

Accordingly, a case under FIR 67/22 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and an investigation has been initiated—(KNO)
