Police arrests 2 extortionists impersonating as militants using virtual phone numbers

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two extortionists, who were impersonating as militants to extract money from shopkeepers in summer capital Srinagar city.

Both the extortionists were reportedly using virtual phone numbers to extort money from the shopkeepers.

Srinagar Police wrote on social media Twitter handle, ” Two Extortionists namely Mohd Younis Zargar of Khushipora & Mohd Rafiq Bhat of Natipora arrested. They were issuing fake threat letters to shopkeepers for monetary gains pretending to be militants using virtual nos. FIR No 92/2022 U/S 120B,383 & 506 IPC registered in PS Shergari,”
