Police apprehends one more self-styled journalist in militancy funding case

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested one more self-styled journalist in LeT militancy funding case in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

The police said that in continuation of the investigation of FIR No 20/23 under sections 120B ,121,121A IPC and sections 13,18,39,40 of the ULAP Act wherein recovery of ₹31.65 lacs was effected, one more accused namely Muzamil Zahoor S/o Zahoor Ahmad Malik R/o Indergam Pattan has been arrested. He is a self-styled journalist as well.

The police spokesman further stated that he had opened a fake account on a forged identity in a bank for transactions related to the furtherance of the activities banned LeT outfit. He had received funds in lakhs meant for terror activities in this account from the main terror hawala operator of LeT.

Incriminating material has also been seized from the accused at the time of his arrest. Seven (7) days of Police remand of this accused were taken for custodial examination, he said.

Five accused have been already arrested in the case namely Umar Ddil Dar S/o Gh Hassan Dar R/o Soiteng, Salik Mehraj S/o Mehraj din Dar R/o Soiteng, Bilal Ahmad Siddiqi S/o Ghulam Ahmad sidiqi R/o Kursoo Rajbagh, Zamrooda Habib D/o Habibullah Bhat R/o Sanatnagr srinagar and Yasmeen Raja D/o Gh Nabi Bhat R/o Tulbagh Pampore, reads the statement.(GNS)
