Poem: tragedy of being a woman in this world

oh! the tragedy of being a woman in this world

to be seen not as a being but a thing

subjected to men for our entire lives

we are given the forceful role of wives

wouldn’t we love to go wild and feral

but you’re afraid it would make you peril

nevertheless, we will rise someday

for what you’ve done we’ll make you pay

pay for the horror you caused

for the centuries of facade

and we’ll teach you one thing you should never do

is try to tame a woman who

who’s already seen the icy horrors

for one day we’ll become terror

you’ll be left terrorised and tormented

by the same storm that you thought you could tread

now, isn’t this the worst tragedy of all

to be born a woman instead of not being born at all
