PM Modi says, govt is focusing on coordinated effort to create robust health infrastructure in the country

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the government has created a robust health infrastructure in a short span of time during the Covid-19 situation. He said, an extensive network of testing labs have been created with the coordinated efforts of government and private sector which helps in effectively dealing with coronavirus disease. He was speaking today at a webinar on working towards a vibrant health sector.

Appreciating India’s efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Modi said, the world has noted the strength which the country’s health sector has shown during the coronavirus pandemic. He said, reputation and confidence in India’s health care system has reached a new level in the world.

Prime Minister said, unprecedented capital outlay has been allocated in the Union Budget for the Health sector and this shows the commitment of the government to provide better health care to every countryman. He said, strengthening of health infrastructure is necessary to effectively deal with Covid-19 like health disasters in the future.

He said, the government sees health issues in a holistic way and an integrated approach has been taken through increased investment in the health sector to provide health care facilities in the far flung areas of the country. He added that 70 thousand crore rupees will be spent on the health care sector which will improve health facilities and create more employment. Talking about the PM-Atmanirbhar Swasthya Bharat Yojana, Mr. Modi said it will create a robust health ecosystem in the country by focussing on research, testing and treatment.

The Prime Minister said, India is working together on four fronts to keep people healthy. He said, the first front is prevention of illness and promotion of wellness and the second front is to provide cheaper and effective treatment to the poor. He added that the third front is to increase the quantity and quality of health infrastructure and health care professionals. He said, fourth one is to work on mission mode to overcome the problems. Mr. Modi asserted that India has set a target to eliminate TB from the country by the year 2025.
