Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched various development projects in Uttar Pradesh today. He laid the foundation stone for the Agra Metro Rail Project, which will cover 30 km area and will run on two-routes. The project is scheduled to be completed in five years.
Mr Modi also inaugurated the second phase of Lucknow Metro Rail Project which is 23-kilometer long having 21 stations out of which four are underground. He flagged-off Metro Rail from Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport Station of Lucknow metro through video link.
On the occasion Union Minister of state for Tourism and Urban Development, Hardeep Singh Puri was present in Lucknow with other state ministers.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for establishment of new 660 megawatt electricity generation and distribution unit of Panki Power Plant and distributed keys to beneficiaries of Pradhanmantri Aawas Yojna.Mr Modi said that Kanpur played an important role in freedom struggle of the country and this land gave inspiration to many national heroes like Nana Saheb, Tatya Tope. He said the city was known as Manchester of east.
