Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the people on the occasion of Sanskrit week beginning today. Sanskrit week is being celebrated from August 19 to 25 to promote and popularise this ancient language.
In a message, the Prime Minister said, Sanskrit language is so rich that it touches every aspect of our life. Mr Modi said, it is a matter of joy that Sanskrit language is reaching more and more people through modern technolgy.
He also sent his wishes to the linguists and scholars associated with the promotion and propagation of Sanskrit language. He said Sanskrit language and its literature contains the knowledge related to all areas of our life. It is the carrier of rich Indian literature, knowledge, science, culture, rites, philosophical values and expression. Sanskrit language occupies a unique place among the ancient languages of the world and is the basis for many languages and cultures. Our ancestors and mystics have made this language the most important scientific language through their penance.
He also noted that there has been an increase in people’s affection for the Sanskrit language everywhere in the world. The PM commended the efforts made by Sanskrit Samvardhan Pratishthan for the promotion of the classical language.
Mr. Modi exuded confidence that the celebration of Sanskrit Week will make significant contribution to generate new interest and enthusiasm in our cultural traditions among the people especially the youth.
