Prime Minister Narendra Modi has donated 21 lakh rupees from his personal savings to the corpus fund for the welfare of sanitation workers of Kumbh Mela.
In a series of tweets, Prime Minister office said, Mr Modi had recently donated the entire Seoul Peace prize money of one crore three lakh rupees to Namami Gange project to help clean the Ganga.
A few days ago, he had received the Seoul Peace Prize – 2018 in South Korea for his contribution to international cooperation and fostering global economic growth. Recently in an auction of his mementoes received by him during his tenure as Prime Minister, three crore 40 lakh rupees were collected, which are also being donated to the cause of Namami Gange. Earlier, Narendra Modi had also raised over 89 crore rupees by auctioning all gifts he received as chief minister of Gujarat and donated this to the Kanya Kelavani Fund. The money was spent on the education of girl child, through the scheme.
