Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal chaired the first meeting of the National Startup Advisory Council. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade had constituted this Council to advise the Government on measures needed to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and startups in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Goyal said that this council will act as the guiding light for many budding startup entrepreneurs in India. Appreciating the work done by the startups in all sectors, for finding innovative solutions to various problems, Mr Goyal said that India is a hub of innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. He said that Startup movement has stirred the entrepreneurial spirit in the last 5 years. The Minister described the Startups as the New Champions of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He said, India has the potential to become World’s largest and most innovative startup ecosystem.
