Waheed Rehman Para, PDP Youth President, today maintained that they are against any kind of ‘tortures’ and anti-democratic ways of authorities against civilians.

“The Valley is tense. Recently, Jamaat-e-Islami was banned, religious Ulama and scholars are being randomly arrested, especially in South Kashmir. We have urged the youth to raise their voice against the issue. Today Rizwan died in the police custody. We are against such tortures on civilians,” he said.

He declared, “We are ready to come out on streets, if the authorities do not mend their ways.”

A school teacher, who was arrested in connection with a militancy case, has died in police custody here, prompting the department to request for a magisterial inquiry, officials said on Tuesday.

Rizwan Pandit, 28, a resident of Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, died during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, a police officer said.
