SRINAGAR: In a first of its kind, a record-breaking number of pilgrims from different parts of the country have visited the Amarnath holy cave to perform darshan in the first ten days of the pilgrimage.

As per the details available, over one lakh pilgrims visited the holy cave in the first ten days of the pilgrimage. The record-breaking turnout has been witnessed despite the pilgrimage remaining suspended for two straight days in the wake of the inclement weather conditions.

The total number of pilgrims performing the darshan of naturally formed Ice Lingam in the cave shrine since the commencement of the yatra on July 1, touched 1,18,157, the officials said. “About 24,228 pilgrims performed darshan till (08:00 pm) Monday.”

Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri told that record-breaking pilgrims of over one lakh have performed the yatra so far.

“We are breaking all the records of development. We have crossed the figure of one lakh pilgrims till today,” he said, adding that the Yatra remained suspended for a couple of days otherwise the number could have touched more in the first ten days—(KNO)
