Jammu: As many as 10,275 posts of different cadres in separate wings of Jammu and Kashmir police lying vacant. Moreover, the 3.31% women in the Union Territory accounts for the entire police force, which is lowest in the country.
As per the datathe Jammu and Kashmir police have sanctioned strength of 91,213 personnel for its different wings but at present the available strength is 80938 as 10,275 posts are lying vacant.
“Out of total vacant posts, 4810 laying vacant in the civil police wing, 3933 in Armed police and 1532 in IRB wing,” the data revealed.
The further breakup of data revealed that the civil wing of Jammu and Kashmir police have sanctioned strength of 52,863 and available strength is 48053 as 4810 posts are lying vacant.
In the Armed police, J&K have sanctioned strength of 15172 and available strength is 11,239 as 3933 posts lying vacant.
Similarly, in the IRB wing of J&K police have sanctioned strength if 23,178 and available strength is 21,646 as 1532 posts are lying vacant.
Moreover, police have recruited 836 personnel this year in the civil police.
Ironically, the data also revealed that the women representation in Jammu and Kashmir police is lowest across the country.
“Against the 80938 available strength of J&K police force, only 2677 (3.3 %) are women,” the data revealed.
However, the Jammu and Kashmir police have initaed the process for rasing two women battalions.
The recruitment drive for the women battalion witnessed huge footfall here on Januarry 22 as 21000 aspirants turn up against 1300 posts.
Braving the cold weather and rain, local women thronged in large numbers for Jammu province and Kashmir province women battalion recruitment.
Danish Rana, IPS, Chairman of the Recruitment Board had said: “We are hiring women for Jammu province and Kashmir province and a list has been prepared in each district for the same. Enthusiasm in the women is commendable despite cold weather and rain. This proves their eagerness to join the police force.”
