SRINAGAR: Amid a decline in Covid-19 cases, the authorities at SKIMS Soura have decided to resume OPD services from today while non-emergency OPD services at SKIMS Bemina will resume tomorrow.
“In the interest of patient care and keeping in view plateauing of COVID wave in Kashmir, it is hereby ordered that the functioning of SKIMS OPD will resume from Wednesday (2nd February 2022),” reads the order issued by Medical Superintendent SKIMS Farooq A Jan,
Pertinently, OPD services were closed and teleconsultations were started at SKIMS Soura in the second week of January after Covid cases surged in J&K.
Officials from Medical College Bemina said that non-emergency services in the specialities of Dermatology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dentistry and Psychiatry will start on February 3.
“In partial modification to this office order issued under endorsement No: SKIMS-MCH/PS/2022/87-95 dated: 14.01.2022 whereby this hospital was designated as dedicated COVID Hospital in accordance to the directions of the government, it is hereby ordered that non-emergency OPD services would now be started from Thursday 3rd February 2022 in the five specialities not involved in COVID care including dermatology, E.N.T, Ophthalmology, Dentistry and Psychiatry,” reads the order issued by Principal Medical College Bemina Dr Irfan Robbani.
“This order is being issued in accordance to the directions of the Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Medical Education passed in the COVID review meet held 31st January 2022. The Medical on of Department of the aforementioned Superintendent and Heads specialities shall ensure that while providing such services, appropriate COVID protocols should be followed under all circumstances,” the order reads.
“It is further reiterated that the services should be provided in the detached OPD complex, which should be completely cut off from the Indoor COVID operations currently being provided in this hospital,” It said.
Notably, SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Bernina was designated as a dedicated COVID Hospital for treatment of Maternity Child Care and Orthopedic COVID patients in the third week of January—(KNO)
