On ‘Dogri Manyata Diwas’, efforts of 75 young minds to be honoured

JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) will organise a mega event to commemorate “Dogri Bhasha Manyata Diwas (Dogri Recognition Day)” at Bahu Plaza complex on December 22.

Senior leaders of J&K BJP and outside UT will take part in the event where the young people from various fields working tirelessly for the promotion and preservation of Dogri language and to keep the rich cultural heritage of Dogras alive would be felicitated.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here, BJYM state president Mr Arun Prabhat congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of “Dogri Manyata Diwas” falling on December 22 and said a mega event would be organized on the occasion to felicitate the young people from various fields for their contribution in the promotion of Dogri language at national and international level.

Flanked by BJYM state vice president Abhishek Salathia, Media Secretary Chetan Wanchoo, State Secretaries Sanjay Sharma, Yuvraj Singh and Himja Mengi who also released a poster “Duggar Da Maan” on the occasion, said: “We are felicitating 75 selected young artists of Jammu who have played a significant role in keeping alive the cultural heritage of Dogras in their respective fields–be it art, culture, sports, education or language”.

“It is the young generation artists on whose shoulders lies the responsibility of preserving the rich Dogra heritage for the progeny. It is, therefore, our duty to keep encouraging them so that they vigorously pursue the mission with utmost enthusiasm,” he added.

The BJYM state president said it was the former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee who facilitated the entry of Dogri language in the eighth schedule of the Constitution of India for which full credit goes to him and the party.

“After the abrogation of Article 370, it was the BJP government at the Centre headed by the Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi that Dogri language was granted the status of Official Language of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is our commitment that we will leave no stone unturned in preserving Jammu’s identity i.e. Dogra culture and heritage,” Mr Prabhat said.

The BJYM leader said the Dogra cultural heritage is the identity of the people of Jammu and it should be the collective responsibility of every people of this Dogra land to protect and preserve this identity.

“Our party stands committed to extend every type of support to the young Dogra artists but it is the duty of every individual that he or she should rise above party while other affiliations need to come forward to encourage the young artists in whatever way they can,” he said.

Prabhat said the BJP state president Ravinder Raina will be the chief guest on the occasion while a number of senior dignitaries including Padam Shree awardees would also grace the occasion. He made a fervent appeal to the people of Jammu region to come in large number and encourage the young people working for the promotion of Dogri language.
