‘Baramulla most affected with 1258 active positive cases’
SRINAGAR, Apr 22: With the resurgence of COVID-19 cases across Jammu and Kashmir, Baramulla alone of the three northern districts is witnessing a steep rise in cases taking the total active tally to 1258 with 184 deaths since the pandemic.
North Kashmir comprising three border districts including Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora is witnessing a regular rise in COVID-19 cases with Baramulla most affected due to the virus in recent days amid the 2nd wave.
As per the figure available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), reveal that north Kashmir in the last six days reported a total of 969 COVID-19 cases with the highest cases of 689 from Baramulla deaths besides two deaths.
The two deaths in North Kashmir were reported in Baramulla and Kupwara with one each, reveal the figures.
The figures state that Baramulla started to witness a sharp spike of cases since Saturday last week with a total of 112 cases followed by 122, 110,136, and 232 cases between 18 to April 21.
Of the total share, Bandiproa and Kupwara have reported only 280 COVID-19 positive cases and death. The figure reveals that 158 cases were from Kupwara and 122 from Bandipora.
As per the figures, Baramulla has so far reported a total of 10,939 cases of which 184 have died and 9497 have recovered taking the toll of active positive cases to 1258 as of Thursday.
Kupwara has reported a total of 6261 cases of which 5853 have recovered and 99 have died.
Bandipora has reported a total of 5053 cases of which 4811 have recovered while 63 have died of COVID-19 taking the total toll of active positive cases to 179.
Notably, ever since the pandemic, North Kashmir has reported a total of 22,253 of which 20,161 have recovered successfully while 346 have died of the COVID-19 virus. A total of 1746 positive cases are active in the northern belt—(KNO)
