New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah has reiterated his persistent appeal for a dialogue between India and Pakistan.

Speaking at an event in Delhi the other day, Abdullah said that India will never see peace until and unless it doesn’t have a better relationship with neighbouring country Pakistan.

The former Jammu and Kashmir CM stated that due to these tensions, the Muslim community in India is suffering.

“Unless we have a better relationship with Pakistan we will never see peace in India…We will never see Muslims coming up because Muslims are supposed to be traitors. We are not traitors, we are Indians, as good as anyone else and much better than them in many times. But the tensions between these two neighbours have really destroyed Muslims in a larger number,” Abdullah said.

Abdullah has time and again pressed for peace talks between India and Pakistan to defuse the simmering tension between the two countries.

The NC chief had last month said that India can use G20 presidency to engage Pakistan to address the Kashmir issue. He also said that his party never sided with Pakistan and always stood rock-solid with India.

Earlier, Abdullah had said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are the primary victims of confrontation between India and Pakistan and wondered how long the two countries will remain in a state of “animosity” and “hostility”.

“How long shall we remain in the state of animosity and hostility? There is no substitute for peace, and both India and Pakistan understand that wars cannot solve political issues,” he said, PTI reported. He further said that the two countries should resolve political issues amicably and through a meaningful and credible political process.
