Srinagar, October 14: The Awami National Conference, a part of the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, has sought Prime Minister’s intervention in allowing prayers on Fridays in the mosques and shrines of Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar earlier in the day, ANC leader Muzaffar Shah regretted that Kashmir is probably the only place anywhere in the world where Friday congregational prayers are not allowed. He said, “I want to address this appeal directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to seek their intervention”.
All mosques and shrines, particularly the historic Hazratbal, should be thrown open for the Friday prayers immediately, he demanded.
