Srinagar, Feb 06: The Jammu & Kashmir government has directed authorities to ensure that no audio system or public address system shall be used in any government or non-government function without a sound limiter.
As per news agency, the Department of Forests, Environment and Ecology of J&K Union Territory has issued a notification designating district magistrates, senior superintendents of police or any other officer not below the rank of the deputy superintendents of police, and any other officers of the concerned local bodies within their respective jurisdictions, to take into consideration all aspects of noise pollution as a parameter of quality of life to avoid noise menace and to achieve the objective of maintaining the ambient air quality standards in respect of noise.
“The above authorities shall ensure that no audio system or public address system shall be let out/installed without being fitted with sound limiter in any government or non-government function in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” reads the notification.
It has further said that no sound system should be sold or purchased or supplied or used by any manufacturer or dealer or shopkeeper without installation of the sound limiter.
“Further no sound system should be sold/purchased/supplied/used by any manufacturer/dealer/shopkeeper/any agency who lets out the public address system etc. without having sound limiter in it,” reads the notification.
