Newly recruited militant-held during CASO in Pulwama

Srinagar, Feb 18: A newly recruited militant was arrested amid a cordon-and-search-operation in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Thursday, officials said.

They said based on specific information about the presence of the militants, a joint CASO was launched by police and army’s 55 RR at Main Town Pulwama. During the searches, a police officer told a news agency that one youth identified as Velayat Aziz Mir alias Rasik son of Abdul Aziz Mir of Banpora Kakpora was arrested along with a pistol and a grenade. Velayat, they said, was missing since January 15 and had joined the militant ranks.
