JAMMU: Facilitating network connectivity in the far-flung, difficult and border areas is the top priority of the Government to improve the quality of life of the local people as well as those working in these areas.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar stated this while chaired a meeting of Regional heads of Mobile Service Provider Companies to review the action plan formulated by them to provide/improve mobile connectivity in the shadow areas, far-flung areas, and border areas of Jammu division.
Kumar stressed upon the concerned service providers to expedite the work on various ongoing works executed in the districts especially Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and Kishtwar.
The Deputy Commissioners (DCs) also apprised the Div Com about the uncovered areas of their respective districts and the service providers informed about the action plan for each area.
The Div Com directed the DCs to coordinate with the service providers and to facilitate the work on infrastructural development projects. He also instructed the service providers to share the updated list of the pending cases with the concerned DCs so that the process can be expedited.
Kumar asked the DCs to identify the shadow areas in their respective districts and share the list with the mobile service providers so that necessary steps could be taken for ensuring mobile connectivity in these areas. He also instructed DCs to hold a meeting with service providers and seek an action plan for installation of towers in these areas.
Apart from administrative officials, the meeting was attended by Regional Heads/representatives of BSNL, Reliance JIO, Airtel and other concerned.
