JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir UT National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) Chief Rajesh Gupta has demanded that home minister Amit Shah must tender an apology to the people of this Union Territory for having betrayed them.Briefing media persons at party headquarters in Jammu, Gupta said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) betrayed the people of J&K by scrapping Art 370 from the Constitution through unconstitutional means. He said that it was an irony for the people of erstwhile J&K state that the BJP divided into two UTs.
NDPI leader said that in the history of India, not a single state has been converted into UT while the UTs have been conferred State status. He said that the Union home minister must apologize to the people of J&K, restore statehood and hold elections to Jammu and Kashmir assembly at the earliest.
Recalling Amit Shah’s speech on August 5, 2019, on the floor of Parliament, he said “The home minister had termed the abrogation of Art 370 as new beginning in the Jammu and Kashmir.
NDPI president said, “Home minister should announce regularisation of all the temporary and daily wager employees who are working in several government departments for the last more than 15 years.” BJP exploited their “nationalistic feelings” and “patriotism”. With every new law that the Union government has implemented in Jammu and Kashmir, resentment among the people of the Jammu grew, he, added.
Gupta further said, “PM Modi’s speech in Kathua on 12 December,2014 was very motivating and progressive. “Modi spoke about black money, Lokpal, and poverty. But all that was a mirage.”
“The BJP government has crushed the sentiments of the J&K youth and trampled upon their aspirations…The youth have been belittled and betrayed,” Gupta said.
