National Conference today took out a protest march in Srinagar against the custodial death of Rizwan Pandith.
Senior NC leaders Ali Muhammad Sagar, Nasir Sogami and Mubarak Gul, led the protest rally from the party headquarters at Nawa-e-Subh.
The protesters demanded the arrest and stern punishment for the people responsible for the death of 29-year-old Rizwan Asad Pandith.
“The custodial killing is not acceptable in today’s time. The murderers should be dealt as per law and stern punishment should be meted out whosoever is responsible. We appeal Governor administration for a thorough investigation in the killing,” demanded Sogami.
He alleged that some government actions and policies are disturbing the law and order in the Valley.
However, the protest march was stopped by the police at Tourist Reception Centre and prevented from marching ahead.
Pandith died in police custody days after he was picked up by NIA in a militancy case, from his home in Awantipora.
The government has ordered a magisterial inquiry in the case.
