NC pays tributes to Sheikh Nazir Ahmed

National Conference has paid glowing tributes to Veteran NC Leader and Former General Secretary Advocate Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his third Death Anniversary. Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah have highlighted Sheikh Nazir Ahmed’s unparalleled contribution to the party and termed him as a statesman who stood in defense of his principles till his last breath. Congregation Fateha Khwani will be held today at Sheikh Nazir Ahmed’s ancestral graveyard at Soura followed by a party function at NC Headquarters at Nawa-e-Subha Complex. Commemorative functions are also being organized across the length and breadth of the State in all the three regions.

“Sheikh Nazir was a courageous son of the soil who served the people and his party without any self-seeking ambitions. He never aspired for a position of power in the Government, nor did he advance any personal goals. He always maintained a close rapport with the party workers and remained accessible to them even when his health was in shambles. Nazir Sahab stood by his principles till his last breath and never compromised on his ideology and views. He was an honest and hardworking leader who epitomized simplicity in his personal life. On his third death anniversary, we salute Nazir Sahab’s legacy and pay glowing tributes to him”, NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah said in his message issued from Party Headquarters in Srinagar.

National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah has also paid glowing tributes to Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his third death anniversary. “Nazir Sahab’s demise created a vacuum not only within National Conference but also in the State’s polity that will be very hard to fill. His service towards his people remained the focal point of his life and he devoted his entire life in serving the party. Nazir Sahab’s honesty and steadfastness continues to inspire the rank and file of the party and we will all carry forward his legacy and struggle by serving our people”, NC Working President Omar Abdullah said in his message.
NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar described Sheikh Nazir Ahmed as a tall statesman and an exemplary and visionary leader who served his State and its people without any personal interests. “Nazir Sahab never accumulated property or wealth and never furthered his own interests or those of his kith and kin. His biggest asset was the love and affection of the people for him and he was at one with party workers all his life. His doors were always open for all of us and he served this party with his heart and soul till his last breath. In Nazir Sahab’s demise, National Conference lost a guiding light and a visionary leader and we pay glowing tributes to Nazir Sahab on his death anniversary”, NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar said in his message.

Various Senior Party Leaders, Office bearers and legislators including NC Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, NC Chief Spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani and NC Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu have also paid glowing tributes to Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his first death anniversary.
