MVD holds free Eye testing camp for commercial drivers on Katra-Jammu road

Reasi: A mobile free Eye testing camp for commercial drivers was on Saturday organised by the Motor Vehicle Department in collaboration with Rotary eye Hospital Udhampur here on Katra-Jammu road.

Around 150 drivers were checked and sensitized about the importance of following traffic norms during the camp held under the supervision of ARTO, Reasi Rajesh Gupta.

According to ARTO, 07 drivers were detected for colour blindness and counseled them on the spot. They were told that the purpose of this camp was to ensure that people with poor eyesight are not allowed to drive, especially in foggy conditions.

Those drivers with eyesight problems were asked to get spectacles at the earliest.

The ARTO emphasized that the main objective of organising this camp was to educate the drivers to check their eyes frequently to avoid any mishap so that the drivers as well as passengers should be safe on road.

After the end of the camp, the ARTO Reasi conducted checking of Auto Rickshaws and challened 3 and seized 2 others on the spot. An amount of Rs.50000 was also recovered from the same for different violations.
