JAMMU: The historical Mughal Road, connecting Shopian in Kashmir Valley with Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region, was closed for vehicular traffic due to fresh snowfall.
The closure was more due to precautionary measures. The meteorological department had forecast snowfall in most places of Kashmir in the coming couple of days.
Mughal Road is an alternative route connecting Kashmir Valley to Jammu region.
DySP Traffic Rajouri Poonch Range, Aftab Bukhari has told news agency GNS that it’s snowing lightly along the thoroughfare, and the road has been closed as per advisory.
The MeT had earlier issued an advisory stating that there may be temporary disruption in surface transportation over Sinthan Top, Mughal Road, Razdan pass, Bandipora-Gurez and Zojila on Srinagar-Ladakh highway during December 9-10.
The weather will remain cloudy on December 9-10 with intermittent Light to Moderate rain at many places of Jammu & plains of Kashmir.
