More than 24 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses provided to States, UTs

Government has so far provided more than 24 crore vaccine doses to States and UTs through free of cost category and through direct state procurement category.

Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 22 crore 96 lakh 95 thousand and 199 doses. More than 1.63 crore COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States and UTs to be administered.

As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, Centre has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID vaccines free of cost. In addition, government has also been facilitating direct procurement of vaccines by the States and UTs.

Vaccination is an integral pillar of the government’s comprehensive strategy for containment and management of the pandemic, along with Test, Track, Treat and COVID Appropriate Behaviour.

Implementation of the Liberalized and Accelerated Phase-3 Strategy of Covid-19 Vaccination has started from 1st of May .

Under the Strategy, in every month 50 percent of the total Central Drugs Laboratory cleared vaccine doses of any manufacturer would be procured by Government.  It would continue to make these doses available to the States totally free of cost.
