Money laundering case: Anil Deshmukh writes to ED, says probe against him not transparent

Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday said that the ongoing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against him in the money laundering case is not transparent.

In a letter to the central probe agency, Deshmukh said, “The ongoing investigation/searches against me are not transparent. The Department is hell-bent on creating a case against me…”

“Series of events has given rise to apprehensions in my mind that neither procedure of law is being followed nor any objective investigations are being carried out. Therefore, I’m approaching the Hon’ble Court to ensure that the probe is within the ambit of the procedure established by law, ANI quoted Deshmukh as saying.

Deshmukh had on Sunday moved to the Supreme Court seeking protection from any coercive action in the money laundering case. “Anil Deshmukh has filed a plea in Supreme Court praying that no coercive action should be taken against him,” his lawyer Inderpal B Singh said.
