Authorities on Saturday detained Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Faroor after he tried to march towards Lal Chowk to protest Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kashmir.
Mirwaiz according yo the Hurriyat leaders defied the house detebtion and tried to march towards Lal Chowk.
However, police contingent deployed outside his Nigeen residence prevented him to move towards Lal Chowk and detained him. He was later lodged at police station Nigeen, Hurriyat leaders said.
Joint Resistance Leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik hadcalled for Lal Chowk chalo today march to protest the PM Modi’s visit to the Valley.
However, Lal Chowk has been sealed by the government forces to thwart the march while a complete shutdown is being observed across the Valley against Modi’s visit.
All the shops and bussiness establishments are closed while the traffic is also thin on roads.
Meanwhile, the mobile internet speed has been reduced to 2g in view of seacurity reasons.
