Pardeep Mittal, while complimenting and congratulating, Umran Malik for the great achievement of representing the nation at international level said that the youth of this Union Territory possess immense talent in all the fields especially in sports and it is the duty of the government to hone their sports skills providing them congenial atmosphere and platforms for the purpose. He appreciated Malik for proving that rural area youth including children have a great potential to make sports their career.
Tony said that it is quite unfortunate that rural areas of this Union Territory have only namesake sports infrastructure and allied facilities as a result of which the immense sports potential of youth in such areas goes waste. While the Govt of J&K has also rolled out a Sports Policy but the situation on ground especially in rural areas has a contrary tale to tell, he added. In such a situation it becomes inevitable for the Jammu and Kashmir Administration to flag promotion of sports in rural areas as one of its top priorities and initiate a slew of measures to ensure that the sports talent possessed by youth in rural areas is not allowed to go waste. He said that overall promotion of sports in the rural areas will also go a long way in deviating the mind of youth from drugs and other anti-social activities.
