JAMMU: Mission Ehsaas which was launched on February 21st 2021 by Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) to clear Khushaal Sar and Gilsar water bodies in Srinagar ‘s old city completed 15 months of its operation. The NLCO team led by its Chairman Manzoor Wangnoo today along with social activist Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat , Mushtaq Ahmad visited the site through the Zadibal area which is being cleared after more than 30 years. Manzoor Wangnoo congratulated the local population of Zoonimar , Gilsar , Khushal Sar and Zadibal, Vichar Nag areas with whose cooperation all this was possible.
“Large area of Khushal Sar around Zadibal has been filled with muck, silt and plastic trash. There is a land mafia working in the area . After we began the work , the locals started coming forward . They fully cooperated with us. Several drains from adjoining areas empty into Gilsar. This liquid waste with a lot of silt and filth is also destroying the water-body. For the last 15 months we have done a lot of work and Govt institutions like Divisional Commissioners office , SMC , LCMA , are cooperating with us . I am sure we will clear both Gilsar and Khushal Sar by this year. I am thankful to Divisional Commissioner PK Pole and team NLCO with whose cooperation all this has been possible ” said Manzoor Wangnoo.
