Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi introduces Mines and Minerals (Regulations and Development) Act in Lok Sabha

Mines minister Pralhad Joshi today introduced the Mines and Minerals (Regulations and Development) Act in the Lok Sabha. Congress’ Shashi Tharoor opposed the introduction on three grounds, including violation of the federal structure.

Mr. Joshi pointed out that the objections can only be on the ground of legislative competence and mentions that Development and Regulation is part of the Centre’s jurisdiction.
