An unidentified militant was killed early this morning in an gunfight with government forces in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar-based Defence Spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said.
One militant and an army commando have been killed in the gunfight so far.
The gunfight in a forest area of Kandi, in north Kashmir’s Kupwara, broke out Tuesday afternoon after forces launched a cordon and search operation there following specific information about the presence of militants.
An army commando was killed and another injured in the gunfight yesterday.
The operation is underway, he said.
