Militant killed in Kulgam encounter, operation on: Police

KULGAM: An unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter at Ashmuji area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday, police said.

A senior Police officer told that one militant has been killed in the initial exchange of firing. However, the identity of the militant is yet to be ascertained. Earlier a joint team of Police, army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Ashmuji.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.(GNS)
