SRINAGAR: Anti Corruption Bureau on Thursday said that it trapped President, Municipal Committee, Pahalgam while demanding and accepting Rs. 80,000 as a bribe for the release of payments for supply of garbage vehicles.
The arrest culminated following a complaint, alleging that Owais Ahmad, President Municipal Committee, Pahalgam, was demanding Rs. 80,000 as a bribe for the release of payments due to him for the supply of Garbage Vehicles (Two Hopper Tipper Dumpers), ACB said.
On receipt of the complaint, the anti-graft body said that a case (FIR No. 31/2021) U/S 7 PC Act 1988 was registered and an investigation was taken up. “During the course of the investigation, a trap team constituted. The trap team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Owais Ahmad while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 80,000 from the complainant. He was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team,” it said, adding, “Further investigation into the case is on.” (GNS)
