Maharashtra reports highest COVID cases, 49,447 people tested positive on April 3

Maharashtra yesterday reported 49,447 new COVID cases, the highest single-day rise since the pandemic began last year. The state health department said 277 patients succumbed to the infection taking the death toll to 55,656. The case fatality rate stands at 1.88 percent. 37,821 people were discharged from the hospital post recovery in the last 24 hours.
The recovery rate in the state is 84.49 percent. The number of active cases in the state now stands at 4,01,172. Mumbai reported 9108 fresh COVID cases taking the total caseload to 4,41,475. The city registered 5,322 recoveries, and 27 deaths in the last 24 hours. The city now has 60,846 active cases.
