SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday imposed a complete ban on the import of bovine animals from neighbouring states and inter-district movement of bovines within the UT for any purpose, till October 25.

The ban has been imposed in the wake of the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in J&K and some states of the country.

As per the order the ban has been imposed under Section 10 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases Act, 2009. It also stated that the decision will be reviewed on the basis of the evolving situation.
