Lok Sabha takes up demands for grants under control of MoHFW for discussion

Lok Sabha has taken up the demands for grants under the control of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for discussion. Initiating the discussion today, Congress MP Manish Tewari raised questions over the strategies and processes adopted by the government during the lockdown period and Covid-19 vaccination drive.

He said the pace of Covid-19 vaccination is very slow in the country and the government is focussing on the export of Covid-19 vaccine doses to other countries rather than using it for their own citizens.

He said India has exported more than five crore vaccine doses to the other countries so far. Mr. Tewari also demanded for the setting up of a Health Regulator in the country.

Rajiv Ranjan Singh of JD(U) said that the government has done unprecedented works for creating a robust health infrastructure in the country. He said the government has taken a series of steps for the containment of the Covid-19 pandemic under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said, coordinated efforts have been taken by the Central government with the help of States and Union Territories’ administrations for effective containment of coronavirus disease. Discussion is underway.
