“Literature adds to reality; it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become.” (C. S. Lewis) So true. Literature not only irrigates, but it also impacts a vast section of society. More and more authors are writing about ‘real incidents.’ They create fiction out of moments – the moments of pain, anguish, serenity, and complex situations. One such author in recent times is Geeta Lal Sahai, who writes from real-life experiences. Literia Insight has recently signed journalist-turned-author Geeta Lal Sahai for her upcoming novel and literary endeavours.

An award-winning filmmaker and a passionate mental health campaigner, Geeta Lal Sahai writes both fiction and non-fiction. After working as a journalist for several years, she is a full-time writer-filmmaker now. Her meticulous research enriches her work with evocative themes and unforgettable characters. Her works have been published by the top-notch publishing houses of the country, like HarperCollins, Mithra Publishing and Niyogi Books. An avid storyteller, Geeta has won several online international competitions for her short stories. Her non-fiction book, Beyond Music-Maestros in Conversation (Niyogi Books), published in 2015, was very well received by Hindustani Classical music connoisseurs.

Her highly acclaimed film, I Remember… currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar, has received many national and international awards. She is a recipient of the REX-Karmaveer- Bronze and Silver Karmaveer-Chakra Award (instituted by iCONGO – International-Confederation-of-NGO – in partnership with the UN) 2014 and 2019, respectively.

“We are delighted to sign Geeta Lal Sahai, who brings a pool of experience in her writings, and also added is an undying flinch for social change through her works,” says Nitish Raj, Co-Founder, Literia Insight.

Geeta has been awarded Sahityakosh Samman, 2021. She has just published two short story collections – When Goodbye Begins: Life takes over and Once is Not Enough: Stories on love, passion, desire, family and loss. While When Goodbye Begins has been nominated in NE8x LitFest 2021, her other book, Once is Not Enough, became the #2 bestseller in Contemporary Fiction on Amazon. Presently she is working on her novel.
