Litchi Model Village: Horticulture Department organises awareness camp

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 25: Horticulture Department organised a mega awareness camp under Litchi Model Village scheme here at  village Swanjana.

The camp was attended by experts from SKUAST and concerned officers and officials of the department.

District Soil Analyst Gurdeep Singh collected soil samples on the spot and talked about Pests and Diseases of field crops with focus on Litchi crop.

Experts from the department had an exhaustive interaction with the farmers regarding proper plantation of orchards, quality plant material, importance of soil analysis, organic farming and judicious use of Pesticides and Fungicides.

Horticulture Development Officers educated the orchardists about various incentives available under Litchi model Village scheme.

Later, Chief Horticulture officer S. Sarbjit Singh impressed on the orchardists to expedite the work under different components. He asked them to complete most of works before end of December. He directed Horticulture Development Officer to maintain close liaison with PRIs for effective implementation of the scheme.
