SRINAGAR: Following the protest by drivers, the authority at Regional Transport Officer Kashmir Friday said that the list of routes on which e-rickshaws will ply will be issued in the next two days.
RTO Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari while talking to a news agency said that the e-rickshaws don’t require any kind of permit, generally, they have been introduced in the market for last mile connectivity where the normal bus service doesn’t exist.
Usually, in the transport sector, they require our permit, but there is no permit system, for e-rickshaws, he said. However, he said that they have prepared a list of 60 areas so far where public transport is not available, and where major transport services are not available.
“It needs some kind of thought further to take care of the grievances of each and every one. We will come up with a list in the next two days and we will encourage the local youth in these areas so that they can get employment avenues,” he said.
Pertinently, the e-rickshaws drivers staged a protest against the alleged harassment by the traffic authorities, saying that they are not being allowed to ply on several routes.
