LeT commander killed in Anantnag encounter, search on: IGP Kashmir


No militant killed in Kulgam operation yet

SRINAGAR: A local militant commander has been killed in an encounter between the government forces and militants in Sirhama area of Bijbehara hamlet in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Saturday.

Inspector General of Police for Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar told that one LeT militant namely Nisar Dar has been killed in Anantnag encounter while Kulgam operation is going on and no militant has been killed yet.

Earlier, officials said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in ChakiSamad DH Pora and Sirhama Anantnag.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spots, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering encounters.

Meanwhile internet services have been snapped in some parts of Anantnag district as a precautionary measure—(KNO)
