KPDCL to revise power schedule by Mar 01

SRINAGAR: The revised electricity schedule in Kashmir will be announced by the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) after March 01.

The decision has been taken amid an improvement in weather conditions. Chief Engineer, Aijaz Ahmad Dar, said that there is no change in the power schedule as of now.

However, he said that the revised schedule will be announced after March 01. Pertinently, the power department issues a curtailment schedule during winters as the electricity demand goes high due to the bone-chilling cold.

Unlike previous years, the 40-day harshest period, chila-i-kalan, didn’t witness any major snowfall this year.

Notably, a local weatherman here has predicted rain as well as snowfall on February 22-23. Sources within the KPDCL said that the demand for power during the day has decreased manifold due to the rise in temperature.

However, they said that the demand increases in the morning and evening hours only in the last couple of days—(KNO)
