Jammu: A delegation of Kashmiri Pandit Entrepreneurs from South Kashmir today held a meeting under the chairmanship of Umesh Talashi.
During the meeting, the Kashmiri Pandit Entrepreneurs pledged to extend their support to Husnain Masoodi, National Conference’s candidate for Lok Sabha elections from south Kashmir Parliamentary Constituency.
Former High Court Judge Hasnain Masoodi joined J&K National Conference and was extended warm welcome by party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah, vice president Omar Abdullah and general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar two days ago.
Justice Masoodi belongs to Khrew town of south Kashmir in Pulwama district. He did law from Kashmir University in first rank in 1977 and was enrolled as advocate in the same year. He topped the list for judicial service and was appointed as civil judge in 1982, the NC statement said adding that Justice Masoodi got admitted to Masters programme in Harvard University, USA a prestigious seat of learning and obtained Master’s degree in law in 1993. He was elevated to Bench in 2009.
Justice Masoodi has a number of important judicial pronouncements to his credit. In October 2015, he rendered landmark judgement on Article 370, declaring it a permanent feature of the Constitution and that it can’t be “abrogated, repealed or even amended”, the statement said.
“In another judgement Justice Masoodi had ruled that the conversion of the post of ‘Sadar-e-Riyasat’ into Governor and Prime Minister was beyond legislative competence and therefore unconstitutional. Justice Masoodi in another pronouncement directed the state government and its functionaries to hoist the state flag on all official buildings and vehicles of constitutional authorities.”
The meeting was attended by entrepreneurs from south Kashmir including Rohit, Abhinav, Ajay, Ravish among others.
