Kathua Campus, JU organises one Day Maiden Yoga Workshop

JAMMU: NSS Unit of Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organized One Day maiden Yoga workshop at the Campus under the banner of Azadi ka Amrut Mahastova to commemorate the upcoming International Yoga Day 2022 and as a part of Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) launched by the Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India for the students of Kathua Campus and U.I.E.T.

The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus. In her message, she said that Yoga is a physical, spiritual, and mental practice that has been done by the Indians for centuries and is deep-rooted in our Indian culture. The main objectives of the workshop were to reduce the stress level through meditation and improve the health standards of the participants and help them to perform better in today’s competitive world. As it increases the desire to learn and understand things better. Asanas starting with warming up and stretching were followed by a series of Padmasanas, Sukhasan, Tadasana, Bhujang Asana Shavasana, etc.  Various asanas for relieving stress, reducing pain, and enhancing the flexibility of the back were also done for the benefit of the participants.

The theme of the workshop was to sensitize the participants to stay motivated and lead a healthy lifestyle by practising YOGA in their daily lives.  The workshop offers a vast and holistic approach to the health and well-being of the body, mind, and spirit. Teaching faculty/Non-teaching staff of the Kathua Campus and U.I.E.T. along with students of the campus/U.I.E.T. participated in this event with enthusiasm. The yoga instructor Mrs. Shalini Gupta demonstrated various Yoga postures and pranayama techniques for the well-being of the participants. The workshop was organized under the supervision of Mr. Amit Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, Kathua Campus. He appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers and asked them to spread the importance of Yoga among their friends and family for their integral development throughout life.
