Kashmir parts receive light snowfall

Night temp improves in Sgr, other areas; Weatherman predicts light snowfall in higher reaches on Feb 09

Srinagar, Feb 03: Several areas in Kashmir on Wednesday received fresh snowfall, resulting in bit relief from the cold weather conditions.

According to the news agency, Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K and other parts of the Valley received light snowfall today, ending the cold wave conditions that prevailed from the last couple of days.

Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT, Mukhtar Ahmad told KNO that there is forecast of rain or snowfall till February 08 evening, adding that as per the prediction, the light snowfall would occur on February 09 at higher reaches.

“Barring February 09, the weather would remain dry till February 13,” he said.

He added that the night temperature would rise again tomorrow, adding that after that it would settle close to minus 3.5 degrees Celsius. MeT spokesman informed that the mercury settled at minus 0.4 degree Celsius while in Gulmarg, a world-famous ski-resort, it settled at minus 5.2 degree Celsius
