JU Professor bags Best LIS Woman Teacher Award

JU Prof. Sangita Gupta awarded best LIS Woman Teacher Award

Jammu: Prof Sangita Gupta, HoD, Library and Information Science, University of Jammu is awarded the Indian Association of Teachers of Library and Information Science (IATLIS) Ratna Laxman Rao Best LIS Woman Teacher Award” at MS University Udaipur for her academic contribution as a teacher in Library and Information Science.

With a teaching experience of more than 33 years, Professor Sangita Gupta is serving as Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, at the University of Jammu.

She is associated with a number of LIS professional organizations for the upliftment of the LIS profession. She is associated as an author with reputed publishing houses like Emerald, Springer, and many more. She is a prolific author who has authored her research works with top-notch journals in Library and Information Science, Scientometrics, Global Knowledge, Memory and Communication, IASLIC Bulletin, Library Herald, SRELs Journal of Information Management, and ILA Bulletin.

She has also authored 5 books and has two edited volumes to her credit and has attended a number of international and national conferences. So far, Thirteen Ph.D. scholars have been awarded under her guidance.

Prof Sangita is professionally very active, and one can see her as a chair in a wide array of conferences and seminars and has also travelled to the USA, Russia, France, Switzerland, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, Tajikistan, Australia, etc. (Visited the School of Library and Information Science, Sans Jose State University (USA); Library of Congress, Washington D.C (USA); National Library of Singapore; Green Kids Library, Singapore; State Library Victoria, Melbourne (Australia) and many more.

Due to her global academic exposure, Prof Gupta is associated with a number of academic platforms. She has also completed a number of research projects funded by ICSSR, UGC and other funding bodies. She has also developed one Institutional Digital Repository of Life Science of University of Jammu.
