ALIGARH: J&K Students Association here today Called on Member Parliament of Aligarh Satish Gautam and urged him to immediately stop harassment of Kashmiri students in Aligarh Muslim University who are facing an uncivilized hostile culture at AMU consistently. The delegation was led by National Convener of Association Nasir Khuehami who raised the issue of the recent cases of intimidation and harassment of J&K students in AMU.
Khuehami informed the MP that Students have become victim of this culture of hostility. “Students from J&K are feeling unsafe and insecure which is psychologically impacting their studies. Even though the matter of harassment was brought before concerned authorities, but no concrete steps were taken by authorities to ensure the safety and security of students,” he told MP.
Responding to Requests of Khuehami, Satish Gautam, Member Parliament of Aligarh, assured that stern action would be taken against those involved in harassment of Kashmiri students in AMU. He said Kashmiri students are our own and their safety and security is our utmost priority.
MP Gautam, while raising the issue with AMU register has condemned the attack on kashmiri students. While briefing the media, Aligarh MP has assured safety and support to every kashmiri student studying in AMU and assured that culprits would soon met their fate, that they deserve. Concluding his remarks Aligarh MP ensured that the inaction of proctorial team, despite being present there when the incident took place could result into an appointment of a new proctorial team. While giving patient hearing to the delegation, MP assured them that there will be total no sense approach to such people who will harass students from other states without any reason. Kashmiri students are our own students & we will not tolerate intimidation, hostile culture and harassment inside varsity.
Delegation also met Aligarh Muslim University Registrar Mohammad Imran and urged him to take appropriate measures for instilling a sense of security among the students. Registrar also assured them all support to enure the safety and security of J&K students and exemplary punishment to those involved in the recent attack on kashmiri students. He also appointed a Nodal officer, who would take care of the avoiding any such incident in future. The Nodal officer would assure the safety and security of students. Furthermore, a special committee would be constituted to look into the recent Attacks on the Kashmiri students. The committee will ascertain the facts and probe who was involved in the recent intimidation and harassment of Kashmiri students, Registrar informed delegation.
While responding to Satish Gautam’s slew of queries pertinent to the issue, the AMU registrar ensured that a committee would be set up that would deeply analyze the case and therefore, would be accordingly translated into an action. Meanwhile, Khuehami has reiterated his appeal to the students for maintaining peace and brotherhood in the University. Foiling attempts of anti-social elements unitedly by the students belonging to various segments of the society is need of the hour,” he added.
