Jammu: Jammu based Cricketer Vivrant Sharma has brought cheer for his fans as the all-rounder has been bought by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) for a whopping 2.6 crore rupees from a base price of mere rupees 20 lac, during the ongoing coveted Indian Premier League (IPL) auctioneering.
The 23-year-old left-handed strike batter Vivrant made a decent impression in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 tournament with his 124-ball 154 against Uttarakhand, which helped his team earn its maiden knockouts’ berth for the very first time in the tournament history.
Vivrant had earlier in the tournament top scored with a 62-ball 69 as J&K chased down a mammoth 343 against Ranji Trophy defending champion Madhya Pradesh.
Vivrant was the second-highest scorer for the team in the 50-over tournament, with 395 runs at an average of 56.42.
He scored two fifties in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and racked up 128 runs at a commendable strike rate of 145.45.
In the 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vivrant registered 128 runs in five matches, with a top score of 63 and also took six wickets, reported news agency GNS.
The youngster has shown his big-hitting prowess against pacers and spinners alike and has a cool head and can adapt to the situation and rotate strike when necessary.
Vivrant will be joining flamboyant batter Abdul Samad and speedster Umran Malik, both of whom play for the same franchise.
Meanwhile, Former Deputy Chief Minister, and Former Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh congratulated Vivrant and said that this is a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir.
“Congratulations to the whole of J&K for this proud moment. Vivrant Sharma left-handed batsman from Jammu bid for 2.6 crores to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Congratulations Vivrant proud of you beta,” Singh wrote on his social media Twitter handle, where he also posted a photograph with Vivrant Sharma while presenting him a bouquet.
