Jammu: A two-week refresher course (RC) in Environmental sciences (Interdisciplinary) concluded at the University of Jammu on Wednesday.
In the beginning, Prof. Piyush Malaviya, Course Coordinator and Head, Department of Environmental Sciences welcomed the participants and dignitaries present in the valedictory session of the refresher course.
He presented the overall report on the activities conducted in the refresher course. Prof. Malaviya informed that the 2 weeks RC was started on the 28th of December, 2022 and the sessions were spread over 12 working days.
The RC was attended by 29 Assistant Professors from various academic institutions of UT of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Kerala.
Overall, 36 sessions of invited talks from eminent resource persons were conducted during this duration besides 13 sessions of presentations by participants and their subsequent assessment.
The internationally acclaimed resource persons affiliated with premier institutions of India and abroad delivered their talks on diverse and interdisciplinary aspects of Environmental Science.
During the feedback session, various participants shared their experiences and appreciated the way in which the overall refresher course was conducted. Prof. S.K. Pandita, Director, Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), University of Jammu and Chief Guest of the occasion in his address emphasized the significance of such courses in knowledge dissemination.
Prof. Pandit congratulated the participants for successfully completing the refresher course and advised them to apply their learnings to sensitize the students about emerging environmental issues.
